On Pday my companion wanted me to cut his hair so I was like yeah! Sure! So we got all ready and found out that the electric hair cutter thingy was not working, it was a rechargeable one but we couldn't find the charger, so he decided to start by hand and I started pulling the hair cutter apart, I figured out it must be flat battery cause when you take the load off it and flick it on and off it goes and stops a little bit. So I pulled it all apart found out that it was a dual double A rechargeable battery, so I took it out used a piece of Al foil to link the batteries. Put it all back together and bam it worked! Hahaha so grateful for all the handy things I picked up from my dad and grandad!!! Well I definitely didn't get that from my grandad cause it's a dodgey DIY job but yeah hahaha. It works good as new, I also removed the wires that connect to the charger so no one blows it up if they find a charger for it. Everyone was very impressed and was like is this just an Australian thing!?!? I was like yeah pretty much everyone can do it ;) hahaha
We have been trying to work with a less active this transfer so much, he really doesn't know anything doctrinally and doesn't have much of a testimony at all, we met with him 3 times this week and he said he wants to know what our church believes, he was baptised a year ago and doesn't know anything at all, so he wants to hear all of the lessons from lesson 1. So that was good teaching practice cause he only speaks japanese, the only words he knows in English are swear words -_- seems to be the only thing most japanese people know.
An update on our baptism we were expecting yesterday :( well he is 100% ready to go, he is following all of the comandments, he wants to get baptised, he just has a speech problem and so cause it could be a mental disability we have to get his parents permission, that can be pretty hard in Japan most people are 100% against Christian churches and baptism, they all see baptism as a trap. It's always a problem, cause when someone wants to get baptised their parents or spouse always seems to be opposed!
Today we get our transfer calls!!!! Scary! I wonder what is going to happen :0 the guess is I am going to nakano (hombu- where the mission president lives) it would be fun and interesting cause there is 8 missionaries in the one apartment :) but I dunno what's gonna happen. You'll probably find out at the end of this email! (no skipping to the end! That's cheating haha). I really don't want to leave because love so many of the members and investigators! I know you shouldn't have favorites but, I love takashi and mizuno shimae and umetsu shimae and ukari and her kids and all of the primary kids!
This Saturday we had an American party, we cooked "American style" chicken which was really just normal chicken haha, funeral potatoes which was so delicious and snickers fruit salad which was amazing!!!! Quite a few people came, it was an awesome night! We mucked around and cooked then at the end i desecrated the American part with hot chocolate and Tim tams! I taught everyone how to make Tim tam slams! It was so fun, a few people dropped their tim tam in their drink so we all got a good laugh. Then the other elders shared an amazing spiritual message which went really well!!!
This week we had a mission conference, elder auyagi who is japanese and grew up in this Ward and is now a member of the quorum of the 70 done a mission tour where they travel through the mission and give trainings. He is so amazing! So smart and so knowledgable! We learnt so much and can't wait to apply it in our dendo.
On Saturday we went to tateyama with Miyazaki kyodai and had the opportunity to meet with mizuno shimae, her husband passed away 2 weeks ago and she is honestly one of the sweetest Amazing elderly ladies I have met, after her husband died she is still happy and funny and just an amazing person, I love being around her. She is such a strong lady! She has such a strong testimony and knows without a doubt that this church is true and that she can live with her husband again and forever. I wish we could all have that sort of faith that not only just gives us hope but lifts our spirits above the worldly view, faith that drives us to act and think eternally.
It's so hard to push the transfer calls out of my mind, I wish I knew what was going to happen already, the transfer calls have made this week go so slow, this week feels slower than the last month!
On Monday me and my companion are going bowling with takashi, so keen for that!
There have been some small slip ups in my japanese lately cause I am trying to speak faster to sound more fluent than I am ahhaha,
1. in japanese there are two words bango and Bangohan on is dinner and one is phone number.... So I asked my companion if he knows an investigators dinner instead of phone number....
2. Sister hirschi said instead of we gave her a Book of Mormon at her house she said we gave her to the Book of Mormon at the book of Mormons house.
3. I mixed up my words in a lesson and instead of saying Jesus Christ died on the cross I said Jesus Christ died because of the ten comandments
I can't wait for elder Russell m Nelson to come to our mission :) he comes in like 3 months. We will be having a massive conference with our mission and Tokyo south combined!!! I'll get to see elder jordan Jenner, I don't know who else is down there. But yay!!!!!
Interesting fact in Japan there was a period called the Ido period, before this period 15% of Japan was Christian but during this period a big strange culture arose where you had to be Shinto or buddist in order to be recognized as a person basically and to have any human rights, so everyone joined one or the other and are still worried to turn away from it cause they feel they will loose thier identity and other things! now Japan is 3% Christian sooo low percentage!!!!
We had 10 investigators at church and 2 children who aren't investigators cause they are too young. We have been focusing on church attendance and we are the highest church attendance area in the mission! Woohoo Kisarazu!!!but takashi didn't come! Cause he lives an hour away by train and didn't have any money for it and his ride fell through :( lame!!!! But because he couldn't come we went and visited him :)
So the baptism we were expecting yesterday didn't happen, because he has a stutter he needs his parents permission to get baptised cause it might be a mental handicap -_- so sad, but I know he will get baptised soon! So I won't get to see it most likely but yeah :( still exciting.
Transfer call just in!!! I'm moving :0 what!!! No way right?!?! I am moving to maebashi the kanji is前橋 which means before the bridge, I don't know what bridge it is before but I assume there is a big bridge somewhere there.... So my new companion will be elder Allred. Apparently he is a navy person, he is from America probably Utah..... But I'm excited to see the new area, I'm so sooooo sad to be leaving though :(
That is all for now :)
Love Elder Kinggggggg
