Monday we had a lazy Pday napping and eating and shopping. We also managed to get a fair bit of work done in our 3 hours of dendo.
Tuesday was crazy!!!! We were actually running between appointments!!!! And biking as fast as we could to get to our appointments on time! We had 7 appointments, we made it to all of them on time except one which we were 3 minutes late. It was an awesome day! 7 lessons in a day is now officially my record! I don't expect to see that again soon.
Lately I have been spending my lunch times and dinner times going through the old paper area books and organizing them, I have been finding all sorts of interesting things! But one thing that was clear is the speed at which the work is hastening! I was looking at these weekly reports and the average lessons taught in 2000 was about 4, Japan is a super hard mission to teach but 4 lessons is crazy low. And on average 2 of them lessons were to members. And now comparing that to now, when we are able to get 7 in one day!!!! It's incredible! And Some of the areabook records extend back to when my dad was on his mission!!!!! (Just after the dinosaurs went extinct)
Wednesday we had an amazing lesson with K-San it was his first day not smoking! Woohoo!!! He is awesome, he is just really wants to learn and follow. He has seen how much the gospel has helped him, now he wants to share it and he wants to live it!
Thursday was meant to be zone meeting and we were meant to be giving a training, but I woke up with a headache :( so we didn't end up going :( then after my headache cleared up a bit we went out and taught L-San he says he wants to know if God is there but doesn't want to put any effort in which is kind of annoying and he will always commit to read/ pray/ come to church and anything but never actually follows through. So lately we have had a lot of talk about the spirit and how we can know something is true and how we show that inwards desire with outwards action like coming to church, hopefully he will come eventually.
Two of our investigators are really close to baptism but they just need to quit smoking, they are both trying really hard one of them stopped for three days then cracked, they are so really cool and we try and see them almost everyday to try and help them with their smoking problem and keep their minds focused on the goal of enduring to the end (I hate the goal of baptism, too many people have that as thier goal and then go less active!)
Everytime we get back to the apartment the other elders say that the house stinks of cigarette smoke! And whenever I have a shower I come out and the appartment smells like smoke! It's quite funny cause many jokes have started about the smell of the smoke and who is the one that is smoking haha. But yeah our apartment now just permanently smells like smoke, I'm just waiting for one of our investigators to ask me if I smoke!!! Or when I have an interview with president budge or something hahahah.
Friday was a interesting day, we had an appointment for 12:30 and had allowed an hour for the lesson and a bit of time for finding in the area but when we got there our investigator wasn't there. So we decided to house his appartment and we found a potential investigator we then went to a near by person who said he was buddist and he is to busy right now but when we asked if we could came back another time he said yeah whatever I'll probably not be here sort of a thing and so we were like sweet lets go knock on his door again, so we did and he let us straight in and we sat in the entrance and talked shared a message about eternal families and he is now a new investigator he wants to hear more, he doesn't want to join or anything but he likes the message we are sharing and wants to learn more about it.
Saturday was great!!!! The ward nearest to ours had a sports event and invited us missionaries to come and bring investigators so we brought our two top investigators. They loved it so much everyone was so nice and it was a great atmosphere for them, they love being around members, now we just have to get them to wake up on time for church! Hahah
Sunday we had church we had 3 people at church which is good, we're getting more and more each week, before I got here we were averaging 1 so hopefully it can keep going up, my big focus for investigators is GPS go to church pray and study the scriptures. Cause these are the things that they are going to need to continue to do. And through doing these we can stay closer to God and make small adjustments in our life to keep our lives in harmony with the saviors teachings.
In the morning on Sunday we called all the people we needed to call to get them to church (church in Japan starts at 10!!!) but we felt like we needed to go to pick 2 of them up and ride with them to church. So we went and when we got there one of them was still in bed, we called him then while on the phone rang the doorbell, he was like what your here?!?! He didn't come to the door though, so then I started putting money in the door mailbox, then he shouts hey this house isn't a Japanese shrine! Keep your dirty money hahahaha we then continue to put more money in the mailbox and he eventually comes, we then got him to get dressed and get on his bike, we ended up being late for church but he came and that was the important thing.
Because our Ward is so small church only goes for 2 hours! It's so much easier to convince people to stay for 2 than 3 Hahahah
Monday we had a mission conference! Elder Ballard came with the presiding bishop of the church the president of the quorum of the seventy and 3 other seventies!!!!!, Tokyo and Tokyo south came and it was amazing!!!! The spirit in that room was electric! We all got to shake elder Ballard and all the seventies hand and they all gave amazing talks!!! Elder Ballard is such an inspirational speaker and example in the way he loves his life
Then afterwards we went out for indo curry as a zone at a less actives indo curry restaurant! We all ate heaps and me and my companion were the last ones to leave so we were just talking to them and they started to open up to us how it's been hard to go to church because they just moved house and it's further away and they haven't been to the ward that they now live in and they don't know if it will be a good ward and they have their shop to run and so we talked about it and after about a half hour chat they committed to go to church on Sunday and trust in God that their restraint will be fine and that they will find comfort in their new Ward! I love them little moments where you make a difference in someone's life without having to or getting recorded with another stat point or anything! It's an amazing feeling helping bring someone closer to christ!
