Elder King was privileged to sing in the October 2014 Priesthood session of Conference as part of the Priesthood Choir from the Provo Missionary Training Center. His family at home were even more lucky enough to see him on screen!
This exciting opportunity came with it's own set of trials and challenges for Elder King. During practices the entire choir was told that if they were sick then "they could't go". "About 75% of the choir was sick including me" he told us. He had been sick for the past week and a half prior to conference. Every prayer he said every day included the sincere prayer that he would be well for conference. Elder King wrote to us recounting the story of his test of faith, "The morning of conference I woke up and I was still coughing and congested and my vocal chords were sore and not sounding very good at all!!!!! But I knew I had been doing everything I could to get better and doing everything I could to serve the Lord, so I still planed on going and had confidence that the Lord would provide, as I had done everything I could. We were on the bus to conference and I was still coughing and congested. Luckily the choir director wasn't on the bus other wise he wouldn't of let me go. We got to the conference center and from the start of warm ups to the end of conference I didn't cough once! My congestion cleared up and I sung better than I have during all of the practices!"
What an incredible test of faith! Elder King was humbled by this experience and was able to recognise it as an opportunity for testimony growth. He says, "It was incredible to see the Lords hand at work. Once I walked out of the conference center I immediately started coughing again and all of my congestion came back. I could never deny that this happened because the Lord intervened in my life and helped me."
Watch out for him at 3:53!!
