Well it was an interesting week. And it's transfer calls today!!!!! :0 wow it goes so fast I feel like it's been 2 weeks since the last one!
So one of our investigators lost contact with us for a week! He went to saitama ken which is about an hour away from us where his "wife" lives, or at least the person he told us was his wife.... So we suddenly can't call him and he is out of town, so we assume the worst and think he has blocked our number. Turns out we finally got back in contact with him on Saturday, he went to saitama, went to the hospital got diagnosed with lung cancer, his girlfriend which he said was his wife but actually wasn't broke up with him because he has cancer, he had started to smoke again while in saitama, his cancer is terminal and he has 1 year to live if he quits smoking and 6 months if he doesn't. and his phone was under his girlfriends name and so she cut his phone off, so he got a new phone and that's why he couldn't contact him. He is still amazing and wanting to learn more and stop smoking so he can be baptised. It was all a lot to take in!!! Especially in japanese it took a lot of dictionary use!!!! Hahaha. But now he has another reason to stop smoking, and if he has faith anything can happen!!! Anything!!!!!!
One of the members in our Ward own a English/japanese preschool so we went for thier graduation was able to share a spiritual message during the ceremony, sing a hymn and then talk to all the parents afterwards. The members brother has a bad view on the church because of things that have happened in the past but because of what we done while we were there he has changed his mind about the church and thinks it's a good thing and has gained a little bit of intrest and we changed his view on the church being a bad thing, we also talked to some of her employees and some have interest in the church and want to come! We have quite a few PIs now from that day!
This experience taught me that being effective isn't always making sure we get as much finding time doing housing or Streeting or even teaching lessons, but it's doing whatever at that time is going to bring more repentant souls unto christ. We ended up having spending about 5 hours at this graduation ceremony and lunch afterwards but this 5 hours was probably more effective than any other 5 hours of dendo I have done, and I have taught 5 lessons in 5 hours before but this was way more effective use of our time in order to bring as many souls as we can unto christ :) it was awesome!
Turns out one of our investigators parents hate Christians like most Buddhist parents and so he can't meet with us anymore..... It's crazy how much Buddhist people don't want thier kids joining another religion even though they the, selves don't even know what they believe! Most of them are just Buddhist because their great great great great grandad was, which is stupid cause they don't actually know anything at all about Buddhism, I know more about Buddhism than most of them..... Sad :,( anyway....
On Sunday there was a devotional by elder Nelson one of the 12 apostles in Tokyo so we got to watch that! And we had 2 investigators come to it!!! It was so good!!!! He went through a whole list of questions he has been asked and answered them simply quickly and clearly.
For example: Fasting- "we go without food once a month, the money used to pay for them meals goes to hungry people. Going hungry to help the hungry is sharing the burden in the lords way."
I love the second part of this "going hungry to feed the hungry is sharing the burden in the lords way"
"Do we believe in the bible? Of course we do! We are in the same church as the people that wrote the bible!"
Jesus refers to us as a covenant people all the time in the bible and in the Book of Mormon, Jesus doesn't use a lot of adjectives to describe his people but he uses the word covenant people a lot! Why? God uses covenants to fit us for our home above. Covenants is the way God prepares us and makes us worthy for our eternal exaltation. There is nothing more important in the world than making and keeping covenants.if we really see the importance of these covenants and really understand what they are and why there there, we will build our lives around them. Just a good question to ask yourself, can you run through your mind and list off all of the covenants you have Made? President hinkley taught that there is much power in words, we should be continually refreshing our minds with these covenants.
Quite a while ago we housed into this lady who let us in and we talked and she said she met missionaries 20 years ago, and the we set up a return appointment and she got sick and then Really busy and we couldn't meet, she finally had time to meet this week and so we did and had an amazing lesson and she showed us a picture of her and some missionaries taken 8 days before I was born!!!! Which was actually Alex Davis birthday funny enough, like the actual day he was born!!!! So I took a photo of the picture showed one of the members and she remembered the missionaries last name so I searched and found her on FaceBook, then contacted her!!! We think she might be less active were not sure but she was amazed that someone she taught 20 years ago randomly gets found again and still had that picture! It's a real testimony adder to the fact that you have to plant the seed before you harvest, every time we open our mouths we are planting a seed everytime we are good people we are planting a seed and so we should be careful to always open out mouths In proclaiming this great extraordinary news and always a good example of how the lord would have us live!
Well we got our transfer call! I'm staying in Maebashi, my companion is out and I am going to be with elder pelfrey, he is from Washington, he has been a zone leader for just over a year now! And he was companions with my teacher in the MTC ages ago, so excited, ready to see many more miracles :) And hopefully this transfer the baptism of Kazuki and Sakamoto.
