Wow what a week! Started off with a miracle! always a good way to start off a week! As most of you know I sung in the choir for the general conference priesthood session. But we were told if anyone was sick they couldn't go. About 75% of the choir was sick including me. I had been sick for the last week and a half prior to conference.every prayer I said every day included the sincere prayer that I would be well for conference! and the morning of conference I woke up and I was still coughing and congested and my vocal chords were sore and not sounding very good at all!!!!! But I knew I had been doing everything I could to get better and doing everything I could to serve the Lord, so I still planed on going and had confidence that the Lord would provide, as I had done everything I could. We were on the bus to conference and I was still coughing and congested. luckily the choir director wasn't on the bus other wise he wouldn't of let me go. We got to the conference center and from the start of warm ups to the end of conference I didn't cough once! My congestion cleared up and I sung better than I have during all of the practices! It was incredible to see the Lords hand at work. Once I walked out of the conference center I immediately started coughing again and all of my congestion came back. I could never deny that this happened because the Lord intervened in my life and helped me. Another miracle was us learning our lyrics in time for conference! We had to learn 6 songs and all of the lyrics and tunes in 7 days. The other choirs that sung for conference started practicing 6 months ago and we had only 7 days! I just assumed we learnt it cause we all practiced on our own and that it was through our own efforts that we learnt these songs. But it wasn't!!! On the bus home everyone was so happy and cheerful. We were singing lots of songs all the way home and as we were singing ye elders of Israel, (which was one of the songs we sung at conference) we got to the second verse and every single person on the bus forgot the lyrics! Not one person knew what came next! This increased my testimony of God helping those who are in his service and that on our own we can do nothing but through Gods infinite power we can do all things! Singing at conference was such a spiritually uplifting experience! The influence of the spirit in that room was sooo strong! D and C 44:2 "And it shall come to pass, that inasmuch as they are faithful, and exercise faith in me, I will pour out my Spirit upon them in the day that they assemble themselves together." Seeing all of the apostles so close up and being there in person when they give instruction unto the world was such a incredible experience! I can now tick singing in general conference off the bucket list! I didn't know it was on the bucket list but it definitely is now hahaha. Since conference I have gotten a lot more sick... but i'll be okay :) I've been promised through a blessing that I will be able to overcome this sickness so all is well in Zion :) Love you all and miss you all :) Love Elder King |
